YBB - The UCL Global Master’s Scholarship helps international students from lower-income backgrounds pursue a full-time Master’s degree at University College London (UCL). UCL created this scholarship to reduce financial barriers and widen access to postgraduate education for talented students worldwide.

UCL offers this scholarship for the 2026/27 academic year and applies it to almost all postgraduate taught programmes.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet all of the following requirements to qualify for the UCL Global Master’s Scholarship:

  • You must pay the Overseas tuition fee rate
  • You must come from a lower-income background, according to UCL household income guidelines
  • You must submit a complete admission application for a full-time Master’s programme at UCL for the 2026/27 intake, including references
  • You must study on campus in the UK, as distance-learning programmes do not qualify

Applicants may apply from any country outside the United Kingdom.

Scholarship Value, Benefits, and Duration

For the 2026/27 academic year, UCL provides up to 85 scholarships, including:

  • Five scholarships reserved for students from India
  • One scholarship reserved for a student from Japan under the Musubi Global Master’s Scholarship

The scholarship offers the following benefits:

  • A £15,000 award to support tuition and living costs
  • Direct application of funds to tuition fees first
  • Payment of any remaining amount to the recipient in three instalments during the academic year
  • Distribution of funding across two years for eligible two-year Master’s programmes

Students may combine this scholarship with other funding sources, as long as the total funding follows UCL regulations. Scholarship recipients must report any additional financial awards to the UCL Student Funding Office.

Selection Process

The UCL Student Funding Office selects recipients based on financial need. The office reviews all eligible applications and recommends successful candidates.

UCL contacts shortlisted applicants in mid-May 2026 to request financial evidence. After reviewing the documents, UCL typically announces final results by late June 2026.

How to Apply

Applicants must first submit an application for admission to an eligible Master’s programme at UCL. After completing the admission application, candidates can apply for the scholarship through UCL’s official scholarship portal.

Application Deadline

All applications for the UCL Global Master’s Scholarship 2026 must be submitted by 5pm BST on Thursday, 7 May 2026. Late applications will not be considered.
